Avicii is Back!

Reaching global success in 2011 after his release of ‘Le7els,’ which became a NO. 1 dance hit in the UK and the U.S., Avicii’s announcement in March 2016 of his retirement was a curve ball to all of his fans. With hits like “Wake Me Up” from his album “True,” which spawned 4x-Platinum and landed No. 1 in 81 countries and many mainstage performances later, Tim’s success in the music industry was undeniable.

One year post his retirement, Avicii is back and ready to continue where he left off. Shortly after his “retirement from performing live shows, Tim went out on a journey across the United States with a group of his closest friends and creators. This brought him back to where we stand now. A man, who has once again found the joy in doing what he knows to do best — compose music.

Tim returned to the scene with the following statement:

“I’m really excited to be back with music once again, it has been a long time since I released anything and a long time since I was this excited over new music! My focus on this first EP of the album was to get a mix of new and old songs, some that fans have been asking about/waiting for mixed with brand new songs that they haven’t heard before!”
Releasing his first EP since 2015, ‘AVĪCI’ — which features collaborations with Rita Ora, AlunaGeorge, Sandro Cavazza and more — Tim continues to use great vocalists who deliver uplifting energy and infectious melodies.
The EP opens with “Friend of Mine,” which blurs lines between folk roots and a burning synth hook. It’s a tale of friendship lost and longed for, sung with playfulness by fellow Stockholm natives Vargas & Lagola — who have previously collaborated with acts such as Miike Snow, Madonna, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Katy Perry and more.
