David Guetta Reclaims Crown as World’s No.1 DJ in Historic DJ Mag 2025 Poll

French superstar secures record-tying fifth victory as ceremony makes Ibiza debut at UNVRS superclub

In a triumphant return to the summit of electronic music, David Guetta has been crowned the World’s No.1 DJ for 2025, marking his fifth victory in DJ Mag’s prestigious Top 100 DJs poll. The historic achievement, announced at the inaugural Ibiza ceremony at the UNVRS superclub on September 30, ties him with Martin Garrix and Armin van Buuren as the only artists to reach this milestone in the poll’s 32-year history.

The ceremony itself broke new ground, marking the first time in the poll’s history that results were announced live in Ibiza rather than Amsterdam. The choice of venue proved symbolic, as Guetta delivered a commanding two-hour headline set to a packed crowd at the island’s newest and most talked-about venue.

“To win Top 100 DJs again, for a joint-record fifth time, is an honor,” Guetta told the audience. “It means a lot to me because the greatest feeling in my life, truly, is playing new music for people and seeing their reactions.”

2025 Top 5 Results:
1. David Guetta
2. Martin Garrix
3. Alok
4. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike
5. Armin van Buuren

The victory comes fourteen years after Guetta’s first win in 2011, showcasing remarkable longevity in an industry known for rapid turnover. At 57, the French producer continues to operate at full throttle, having released more than one track per month throughout 2025. His recent output spans an impressive range, from trap-influenced collaborations with MORTEN to euphoric festival anthems alongside Martin Garrix and Afrojack, plus a new single with longtime collaborator Sia.

This year’s poll results reflect both continuity and change in the electronic music landscape. While established names dominate the upper ranks, several breakthrough artists made significant impacts. Michael Bibi claimed the “Highest New Entry” award at position 48, marking an inspiring comeback story after his battle with a rare form of cancer forced him to pause his career in 2023.

The Belgian techno queen Charlotte de Witte continued her ascent, reaching ninth position and retaining her title as the World’s No.1 Techno DJ. Her placement marks the highest ranking ever achieved in her career, cementing her status as one of the genre’s most influential figures.

Italian representation reached new heights with Anyma (Matteo Milleri) securing tenth place, making him the first Italian artist to crack the top ten. The achievement comes as Anyma prepares for his groundbreaking Coachella 2026 performance, where he’ll become the first Italian to headline the festival’s main stage.

The ceremony also recognized genre specialists, with FISHER claiming the World’s No.1 House DJ title at seventh position, while Armin van Buuren was honored as both the World’s No.1 Trance DJ and recipient of the Outstanding Contribution Award. Sara Landry emerged as the World’s No.1 Hard DJ, reflecting the growing global appetite for harder electronic sounds.

Beyond individual achievements, the 2025 poll demonstrated electronic music’s continued global expansion. The diversity of artists and genres represented signals a healthy ecosystem that embraces both underground innovation and mainstream accessibility.

The partnership with Bridges for Music, a South Africa-based charity supporting young creatives in underserved communities, raised nearly £150,000 during the campaign. This initiative reflects the dance music community’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent worldwide.

As the dust settles on another year of competition, Guetta’s victory reinforces a fundamental truth about longevity in electronic music: adaptability without compromise. His ability to bridge generations while maintaining artistic integrity has proven to be a formula for sustained success in an ever-evolving industry.

The French superstar’s reign continues, but with rising talents like Anyma and established forces like Charlotte de Witte pushing boundaries, the 2026 poll promises to be equally compelling. For now, however, the crown belongs firmly to David Guetta, whose passion for innovation shows no signs of diminishing even four decades into his remarkable career.
